Main researches

1.   Saltmarsh under global change

Increased input of exogenous nitrogen and plant invasion pose serious threats to global and China's environments, especially in estuarine saltmarshes. Since 2016, we have performed a field controlled experiment (Saltmarsh Invasion and Nitrogen Enrichment ExperimentSINE)) to explore the impacts of Spartina alterniflora invasion and exogenous nitrogen on ecosystem processes in Yangtze Estuary. This experiment has 30 16*16m plots.



       2.   Soil carbon-climate feedbacks

     Climate warming is predicted to accelerate soil carbon (C) release triggering a positive C-climate feedback. However, the magnitude of this feedback remains highly uncertain, partly because of our poor understanding of spatial and temporal dynamics of soil C decomposition and microbial adaptation responding to change in temperature. We are exploring the feedbacks through field observations and laboratory works across forest, grassland and farmland ecosystems in China. In addition, we are collaborating with researchers in a climate-controlled experiment in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
